Admission Information
Applicants are considered without regard to race or religion. Enrollment is open to children between the ages of 2 and 6 years
who are self-sufficient in the bathroom. After touring the school and upon receipt of the registration form and fee, another visit with your child will be arranged to determine general readiness for the classroom environment and to determine classroom placement. This visit will also include discussion regarding the schools policies, home-school interaction and information about completing all necessary school and state required paper work for your child's file.
The school year begins the day after Labor Day and continues through the
beginning of June. Although classes begin in September, new students may be
enrolled at any time during the school year if space is available. Summer camp is a separate session.
Schedules
Sunrise Montessori offers a number of family friendly options for enrollment.
Half Day Preschool Program: The half day preschool program (both
the AM and PM program) offers the child a complete Montessori curriculum. The
child will spend approximately 1.75 hours working in self-directed activities,
30 minutes in large circle activities and 30 minutes in outdoor play. This
program, in addition to offering the child a complete Montessori curriculum,
provides opportunities to further develop the child's intellectual faculties.
The child is exposed to an individualized reading and a mathematics program. In
conjunction with the phonic and whole language reading approach, the child will
be introduced to mathematical skills; introduction to the decimal number system
and the processes of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions
etc. to reach their utmost potential. We introduce the children to different
languages; for instance Spanish, German, and/or American Sign Language (ASL).
Daycare Programs: The full day program incorporates the half day program in the morning as well as another Montessori work time in the afternoon or nap, depending on the needs of your child. At the time of enrollment daycare hours can be added in the morning or afternoon.
Summer Camp: During the summer months, a Montessori program emphasizing the creative arts, large motor activities and themed units of study are available in order to give the child more continuity in his/her learning.
